Venue Spotlight: Elms Mansion

I had the opportunity to scout Elms Mansion for my own wedding a while back and if it was not for the lack of family and friends this would have been my location. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! It is located on famous St. Charles Avenue. It is definitely not your typical ballroom. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was in the Renaissance period. Well maybe not that far back but you get the point ;) This is the perfect location that requires little to no decorating because it has some of the most beautiful fixtures, furniture and staircase that is to die for and we wouldn't want to take away from all of it's rich history. You can choose an outside or an indoor candlelight ceremony. The pics on the website do not do this place any justice. I have seen professional pictures from weddings that have taken place here and I was simply in AWE!!! I always hope my couples get a chance to take pics on a streetcar. Any time one of my destination brides come in town on a scouting trip, Elms Mansions is always on my list and my local brides already know this is where we are going. The Avery is BACK!!!

This has to be one of the most hard to get, most popular destination wedding dresses EVER!!! I wanted this dress for my day after session in Jamaica and stalked Ebay and trash-to-treasure websites with no such luck. It has been sold out for the longest time until now. If I were to have my wedding all over again, I would wear this dress. It is so simple yet chic and sexy all at the same time. J. Crew has a wide variety of dresses for any bride looking for a beautiful yet affordable wedding dress. Their dresses range from $325-$2995. Many brides will order a few different dresses and try them on in the privacy of their own home without a pushy sales rep, choose their dress and ship the rest back. Very simple. 

My FAVE FAVOR: PRALINES!!!

My absolute favorite wedding favor are pralines. Guest love them and they are so yummy. There are many praline shops around the city but the one I will drive miles for is Leah's Pralines in the French Quarter. I just happened to stumble across their shop one day while in the French Quarter and could not believe something so small could be so good. They are always so helpful and giving free samples. They offer individual sized packages with custom labels. For the DIY bride, you can always make your own labels and just purchase the pralines separately.
